1

Is it a blog or a web site?
Both! The SOS Radio Week web site has been created using Wordpress and is a perfect example of the system being used as a web site content management system.
In addition to the web site pages, the home page displays a summary of the latest blog entries, attractively dated so that visitors can immediately see when the site was last updated.
2
Customised theme
When creating the web site dynanti web design took a standard theme, Intrepidity by Top Blog Formula, and tailored it to suit the branding of the SOS Radio Week event.
The major change is the large image in the header depicting the Criccieth lifeboat returning from a 'shout' and the removal of the newsletter sign-up panel.

Widgets galore
Part of the tailoring process involved the inclusion of lots of widgets. These include:
- Sidebar login - replaces the standard login widget and enables a customised sidebar menu to those who are granted access.
- Just Giving donation panel - enables visitors to make credit and debit card donations securely over the Internet.

User editable pages
Wordpress doesn't normally allow visitors to edit just one page of the site - but this was a major requirement for the SOS Radio Week web site as participants are to be given their own page on the site to keep visitors informed of their activities.
Using a couple of special Wordpress plugins, Capability Manager by Jordi Canals and Group Restriction by Tiago Pocinho of Siemens Networks SA , dynanti web design was able to develop a system whereby participants could login to the web site and only gain access to their own web page.

Large footer
It is becoming common practise these days to promote the footer of a web site from holding all the content that people don't want to see, to a useful information resource.
dynanti web design have utilised the large footer on the SOS Radio Week web site to great effect with a summary of news categories and recent news items, a site map and list of the most common keyt word tags used throughout the site for quick searching.

Search engine optimsation
Everyone wants to see their web site work for them - Wolf Heating's web site was generating serious business within weeks of going live.
Within the first two weeks of the web site being live it had generated two new central heating installations and several other jobs.
The site worked overtime during the winter of 2010, the coldest winter on record for many a year, as new clients searched for a plumber to clear frozen and repair burst pipes.
